Coarse graining of NN inelastic interactions up to 3 GeV:Repulsive vs Structural core

    P. Fernandez-Soler🇪🇸 · E. Ruiz Arriola🇪🇸

The repulsive short distance core is one of the main paradigms of nuclear physics which even seems confirmed by QCD lattice calculations. On the other hand nuclear potentials at short distances are motivated by high energy behavior where inelasticities play an important role. We analyze NN interactions up to 3 GeV in terms of simple coarse grained complex and energy dependent interactions. We discuss two possible and conflicting scenarios which share the common feature of a vanishing wave function at the core location in the particular case of S- waves. We find that the optical potential with a repulsive core exhibits a strong energy dependence whereas the optical potential with the structural core is characterized by a rather adiabatic energy dependence which allows to treat inelasticity perturbatively. We discuss the possible implications for nuclear structure calculations of both alternatives.

Exploring the In-Medium Momentum Dependence of the Dynamical Quark Mass

    Mateusz Cierniak🇵🇱 · Thomas Klähn🇵🇱

We review the two standard equations of states based on the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model and the thermodynamic bag (tdBag) model for dense, cold quark matter from a perspective based on the Dyson-Schwinger (DS) formalism. A different, but technically not more complicated approximation reproduces the model of Munczek and Nemirovsky (MN) which accounts in a simplified way for chiral symmetry breaking and confinement as a dynamic process rooted in the momentum dependence of QCD model gap solutions. We review the mass gap solutions for the MN model in the chiral limit and sketch the behavior of mass gap solutions for finite bare quark masses at finite chemical potential.

    Microscopic Clustering in Light Nuclei

    Martin Freer🇬🇧 · Hisashi Horiuchi🇯🇵 · Yoshiko Kanada-En'yo🇯🇵 · Dean Lee🇺🇸 · Ulf-G. Meißner🇩🇪

We review recent experimental and theoretical progress in understanding the microscopic details of clustering in light nuclei. We discuss recent experimental results on -conjugate systems, molecular structures in neutron-rich nuclei, and constraints for ab initio theory. We then examine nuclear clustering in a wide range of theoretical methods, including the resonating group and generator coordinate methods, antisymmetrized molecular dynamics, Tohsaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-Röpke wave function and container model, no-core shell model methods, continuum quantum Monte Carlo, and lattice effective field theory.
