    Probing the QCD phase diagram with dileptons - a study using coarse-grained transport dynamics

    Dilepton production in heavy-ion collisions at various energies is studied using coarse-grained transport simulations. Microscopic output from the Ultra-relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) model is hereby put on a grid of space-time cells which allows to extract the local temperature and chemical potential in each cell via an equation of state. The dilepton emission is then calculated applying in-medium spectral functions from hadronic many-body theory and partonic production rates based on lattice calculations. The comparison of the resulting spectra with experimental data shows that the dilepton excess beyond the decay contributions from a hadronic cocktail reflects the trajectory of the fireball in the plane of the QCD phase diagram.

    New dynamic critical phenomena in nuclear and quark superfluids

    We study the dynamic critical phenomena near the possible high-density QCD critical point inside the superfluid phase of nuclear and quark matter. We find that this critical point belongs to a new dynamic universality class beyond the conventional classification by Hohenberg and Halperin. We show that the speed of the superfluid phonon vanishes at the critical point and that the dynamic critical index is .

    In-medium properties of the phi meson with phi N resonant contributions

    Nuclear production experiments report missing absorption processes of the in-medium phi meson. Contributions arising from the K-bar K cloud have already been widely studied, and therefore we investigate the phi-meson properties in cold nuclear matter with the additional inclusion of resonant phi N interactions. Two models are considered which dynamically generate N*-like states close to the phi N threshold. We find that these states, together with the non-resonant part of the amplitude, contribute to the phi self-energy with the same order of magnitude as the K-bar K effects. At non-vanishing nuclear density, both models lead to an additional in-medium broadening of the phi, up to around 50 MeV. Furthermore, at least one of the models is compatible with a mass shift to lower energies of up to 35 MeV at threshold and normal matter density. Finally, a double-peak structure appears in the spectral function due to the mixing of resonance-hole modes with the quasi-particle peak. These results converge into the direction of the experimental findings.

    Static critical fluctuations on the freeze-out surface

    In this proceeding, we summarize the main results of our recent paper, which introduces a freeze-out scheme to the dynamical models near the QCD critical point. Within such framework of static critical fluctuations, the Beam Energy Scan (BES) data of and for net protons within different ranges can be roughly described. Besides, the momentum acceptance dependence of higher cumulants at lower collision energies can also be qualitatively described. However, and are always over-predicted due to the positive static critical fluctuations.
