    Impact of the first-forbidden decay on the production of r-process peak

    We investigated the effects of first-forbidden transitions in decays on the production of the r-process peak. The theoretical calculated -decay rates with -delayed neutron emission were examined using several astrophysical conditions. As the first-borbidden decay is dominant in neutron-rich nuclei, their inclusion shortens -decay lifetimes and shifts the abundance peak towards higher masses. Additionally, the inclusion of the -delayed neutron emission results in a wider abundance peak, and smoothens the mass distribution by removing the odd-even mass staggering. The effects are commonly seen in the results of all adopted astrophysical models. Nevertheless there are quantitative differences, indicating that remaining uncertainty in the determination of half-lives for nuclei is still significant in order to determine the production of the r-process peak.

    Entropy Production, Hydrodynamics, and Resurgence in the Primordial Quark-Gluon Plasma from Holography

    Microseconds after the Big Bang quarks and gluons formed a strongly-coupled non-conformal liquid driven out-of-equilibrium by the expansion of the Universe. We use holography to determine the non-equilibrium behavior of this liquid in a Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker Universe and develop an expansion for the corresponding entropy production in terms of the derivatives of the cosmological scale factor. We show that the resulting series has zero radius of convergence and we discuss its resurgent properties. Finally, we compute the resummed entropy production rate in de Sitter Universe at late times and show that the leading order approximation given by bulk viscosity effects can strongly overestimate/underestimate the rate depending on the microscopic parameters.

    Renormalisation of the low-energy constants of chiral perturbation theory from loops with dynamical vector mesons

    Starting from a relativistic Lagrangian for pseudoscalar Goldstone bosons and vector mesons in the antisymmetric tensor representation, a one-loop calculation is performed to pin down the divergent structures that appear for the effective low-energy action at chiral orders Q^2 and Q^4. The corresponding renormalisation-scale dependences of all low-energy constants up to chiral order Q^4 are determined. Calculations are carried out for both the pseudoscalar octet and the pseudoscalar nonet, the latter in the framework of chiral perturbation theory in the limit of a large number of colours.
