    Nuclear structure and decay properties of even-even nuclei in drip-line region

    We study nuclear structure properties for various isotopes of Ytterbium (Yb), Hafnium(Hf), Tungsten(W), Osmium(Os), Platinum(Pt) and Mercury(Hg) in drip-line region starting from to within the formalism of relativistic mean field (RMF) theory. The pairing correlation is taken care by using BCS approach. We compared our results with Finite Range Droplet Model(FRDM) and experimental data and found that the calculated results are in good agreement. Neutron shell closure are obtained at and in this region. We have also studied probable decay mechanisms of these elements.

    Scaling of flow in heavy ion collisions and the low-energy frontier

    The common interpretation of elliptic flow in heavy ion collisions is that it is produced by hydrodynamic flow at low transverse momentum and by parton energy loss at high transverse momentum. Here, we discuss this interpretation in view of the dependence of with energy, rapidity and system size, and show that it is far from clear how the relevant properties necessary for this interpretation, low viscosity and high opacity, turn on. A low energy collider such as NICA is essential for this interpretation to be verified, understood and related to the fundamental properties of hadronic matter

    Spectrum of secondary electrons emitted during the nuclear -decay of the tritium atom

    Ionization of the final He ion during the nuclear -decay of the tritium atom is discussed. The velocity spectrum of the emitted secondary electrons is derived in the explicit form. Our method allows to determine the relative and absolute probabilities of formation of the final states in few-electron atoms which include `free' secondary electrons moving with different velocities. \noindent PACS number(s): 23.40.-s, 12.20.Ds and 14.60.Cd

    Odd tensor electric transitions in high-spin Sn-isomers and generalized seniority

    The similar behavior of the B(E1) values of the recently observed 13- odd tensor E1 isomers and the B(E2) values of the 10+ and 15- even tensor E2 isomers in the Sn-isotopes has been understood in terms of the generalized seniority for multi-j orbits by using the quasi-spin scheme. This simple approach proves to be quite successful in explaining the measured transition probabilities and the corresponding half-lives in the high-spin isomers of the semi-magic Sn-isotopes. Hence, we show for the first time the occurrence of seniority isomers in the 13- Sn-isomers, which decay by odd-tensor E1 transitions to the same seniority states.

    Infrared extrapolations of quadrupole moments and transitions

    We study the convergence of bound-state quadrupole moments in finite harmonic oscillator spaces. We derive an expression for the infrared extrapolation for the quadrupole moment of a nucleus and benchmark our results using different model interactions for the deuteron. We find good agreement between the analytically derived and numerically obtained convergence behavior. We also derive an extrapolation formula for electric quadrupole transitions and find good agreement with the numerical calculation of a simple system.

    Decomposition of the absorbed dose by LET in tissue-equivalent materials within the SHIELD-HIT transport code

    The SHIELD-HIT transport code, in several versions, has been used for modeling the interaction of therapeutic beams of light nuclei with tissue-equivalent materials for a long time. All versions of the code include useful option of decomposition of the absorbed dose by the linear energy transfer (LET), but this option has not been described and published so far. In this work the procedure of decomposition of the absorbed dose by LET is described and illustrated by using the decomposition of the Bragg curve in water phantom, irradiated by beams of protons, alpha particles, and of ions lithium, carbon and oxygen.
