    Jet quenching in high-energy heavy-ion collisions

    Jet quenching in high-energy heavy-ion collisions can be used to probe properties of hot and dense quark-gluon plasma. We provide a brief introduction to the concept and framework for the study of jet quenching. Different approaches and implementation of multiple scattering and parton energy loss are discussed. Recent progresses in the theoretical and phenomenological studies of jet quenching in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC are reviewed.

    Some Aspects of Three-Quark Potentials

    We analytically evaluate the expectation value of a baryonic Wilson loop in a holographic model of an SU(3) pure gauge theory. We then discuss three aspects of a static three-quark potential: an aspect of universality which concerns properties independent of a geometric configuration of quarks; a heavy diquark structure; and a relation between the three and two-quark potentials.

    Chiral superfluid on a sphere

    We consider a spinless fermionic superfluid living on a two-dimensional sphere. Using superfluid hydrodynamics we show that the ground state necessarily exhibits topological defects: either a pair of elementary vortices or a domain wall between phases. In the topologically nontrivial BCS phase we identify the chiral fermion modes localized on the topological defects and compute their low-energy spectrum.

    Probing proton fluctuations with asymmetric rapidity correlations

    Intrinsic fluctuations of the proton saturation momentum generate asymmetric rapidity distributions on an event-by-event basis. We argue that the asymmetric component, , of the orthogonal polynomial decomposition of the two-particle rapidity correlation function is a sensitive probe to this distribution of fluctuations. We present a simple model connecting the experimentally measured to the variance, , of the distribution of the logarithm of the proton saturation scale. We find that describes the asymmetric component of the rapidity correlations recently measured by the ATLAS collaboration.
