    The isospin quartic term in the kinetic energy of neutron-rich nucleonic matter

    The energy of a free gas of neutrons and protons is well known to be approximately isospin parabolic with a negligibly small quartic term of only MeV at the saturation density of nuclear matter . Using an isospin-dependent single-nucleon momentum distribution including a high (low) momentum tail (depletion) with its shape parameters constrained by recent high-energy electron scattering and medium-energy nuclear photodisintegration experiments as well as the state-of-the-art calculations of the deuteron wave function and the equation of state of pure neutron matter near the unitary limit within several modern microscopic many-body theories, we show for the first time that the kinetic energy of interacting nucleons in neutron-rich nucleonic matter has a significant quartic term of . Such a large quartic term has significant ramifications in determining the equation of state of neutron-rich nucleonic matter using both terrestrial and astrophysical observables.

    Nuclear -decay half-lives in the relativistic point-coupling model

    The self-consistent proton-neutron quasiparticle random phase approximation approach is employed to calculate -decay half-lives of neutron-rich even-even nuclei with . A newly proposed nonlinear point-coupling effective interaction PC-PK1 is used in the calculations. It is found that the isoscalar proton-neutron pairing interaction can significantly reduce -decay half-lives. With an isospin-dependent isoscalar proton-neutron pairing strength, our results well reproduce the experimental -decay half-lives, although the pairing strength is not adjusted using the half-lives calculated in this study.

    Extended Skyrme pseudo-potential deduced from infinite matter properties

    We discuss the contributions to the Equation of State for the NLO Skyrme pseudo-potential (=2,3). We show that by adding 4th and 6th order gradient terms, it is possible to fairly reproduce the spin/isospin decomposition of an equation of state obtained from \emph{ab-initio} methods. Moreover, by inspecting the partial-wave decomposition of the equation of state, we show for the first time a possible way to add explicit constraints on the sign of the tensor terms of the Skyrme interaction.
