The Isovector Quadrupole-Quadrupole Interaction Used in Shell Model Calculations with Excitations

Abstract

The effect of the ``'' term in the interaction , which was previously considered in the shell, is now studied in a larger space which includes excitations. We still get a collapse of low-lying states below the conventional ground state when is made sufficiently negative.
